DASHH DS4I – Call for Collaborative PhD Projects with Industry
HamburgJuly 15, 2026

New opportunities for companies in data science and research
The Data Science for Innovation (DS4I) programme by DASHH supports collaborative PhD projects between academia and industry. The programme focuses on joint research questions at the interface of data science or applied mathematics and the structure sciences, including photon science, particle physics, structural biology, materials science, and accelerator science. The programme offers companies the opportunity to work together with researchers from the DASHH network on innovative research projects while jointly supervising a PhD candidate.
The PhD position is funded through a matching model, with the industry partner and DASHH together with its partners each contributing approximately half of the funding (plus any applicable overhead costs on the industry partner's side).
For companies within the Hi-Acts network, DS4I provides an excellent opportunity to further develop research and innovation topics through a collaborative PhD project and to create long-term mutual benefits.
The application process begins with the submission of an Expression of Interest, which should include a brief project outline and a short description of the participating partners.
Deadline for the Expression of Interest: 31 August 2026
