We are excited to share some fantastic news from the Hi-Acts community! Santiago, a talented young scientist from our Hi-Acts TechLab Radionuclides, has been awarded the esteemed HZDR Doctoral Prize for his outstanding doctoral thesis in the field of health.

This accolade recognizes exceptional research achievements at the Helmholtz-Zentrum Dresden-Rossendorf (HZDR), and Santiago’s work exemplifies innovation, dedication, and scientific excellence.

Pioneering Research in Radionuclide-based Cancer Imaging and Therapy

Santiago’s award-winning thesis focused on the development and application of a novel radionuclide pair: copper-64 and copper-67. This innovative pair holds significant promise for advancing both diagnostic imaging and targeted therapy of cancer — a true embodiment of the "theranostic" concept, where diagnosis and therapy are synergistically combined.

His research explored the chemistry, radiopharmaceutical properties, and preclinical evaluation of these radionuclides, aiming to improve the precision and efficacy of cancer treatments. The potential impact of this work is vast, offering new avenues for personalized oncology and advancing the frontiers of nuclear medicine.

A Milestone for Young Talent and Health Innovation

This achievement not only reflects Santiago’s remarkable scientific contribution but also highlights the essential role of young researchers in driving progress across healthcare technologies. His success underscores the value of interdisciplinary collaboration — a core principle of Hi-Acts — bringing together expertise in radionuclide production, chemistry, biology, and clinical translation.

We are immensely proud that Santiago’s pioneering work has been recognized on such a prestigious platform. It demonstrates the strength of our TechLab’s mission to foster cutting-edge research that addresses some of the most urgent challenges in health and well-being.

Celebrating Excellence and Looking Ahead

At Hi-Acts, we are committed to supporting and celebrating the creativity, curiosity, and dedication of emerging scientific leaders. Santiago’s journey is a testament to what is possible when innovation is met with passion and perseverance.

We warmly congratulate Santiago on this well-deserved recognition and look forward to seeing how his work continues to inspire and contribute to the future of health research.

Your dedication motivates us all to keep pushing the boundaries of what is possible!
